((Glad you're safe, mun. I was worried about you yesterday /gen))
((You’re very sweet, Anon, thank you.
Thankfully it didn’t turn out as bad as weather channel was predicting for my area. Didn’t even get any hail, thank God.
Lightning did strike near my house though, and it made the whole house rattle.
It was so surreal too. It got quiet for a moment, like the kind of quiet where you can feel something building up and then KABOOM!
But that was the only craziness to come from the storm, so I’m very thankful.))

Epic Upwards Lightening!
This phenomenon occurs when there is a rapid change in the electrical field, after a positive, nearby cloud to ground strike.
While rare, they can be stunningly beautiful and are usually initiated from tall buildings, towers & even large wind turbines.

Lightning Strike in Buchanan Claims Two Young Lives And Leaves Two Other In Critical Condition
A tragic lightning strike in Besaymah, has claimed the lives of two young boys and leaves two others in critical condition. The incident occurred while a group of young boys, aged between 14 and 18, were playing football, a simple, joyful activity that many of us remember fondly from our own childhoods. But in an instant, the game turned into a nightmare. A lightning strike hit the field,…

I’m on s6 of my re-watch of 9-1-1 and I can’t help but think that the lightning strike was ridiculous.
Not because it was improbable or anything like that. Why did they send someone up a ladder in a rainstorm that had active lightning in it? They literally open s6e11 with a lightning strike.
Buck wasn’t even rescuing someone, he was just getting water on the fire. That was some reckless endangerment on Bobby’s part.
And while the storm was still happening Eddie runs up the ladder to rescue Buck; running the risk that he’ll become another victim. If Eddie was struck (because lightning does strike opportunistic places more than once) then Chris would be down both his father and (ICE) his guardian.

"As severe storms moved through north Georgia and metro Atlanta over the weekend, a trucker narrowly missed being struck by lightning.
Video shows a trucker driving down Interstate 285 on Sunday morning when lightning strikes just off the side of the road a few feet ahead."

how are lightning sprites formed
Dangerously. To make a single lightning sprite, over 30 wild strikes have to be collected by specialist lightning farmers and crammed into the can of regular Sprite before it's plugged with a traditional Sprite globule. On average, two employees die per can of lightning flavored Sprite you see on the shelf, making it the 4th unsafest job in America after coal miner, oil rig worker, and literally anything for the government right now.
